Dr. Robert M. Doroghazi Eagle Scout Award
In the 100th Anniversary of the Eagle Scout Award, past Council President and Distinguished Eagle Scout Dr. Robert M. Doroghazi established and funded this Eagle Scout Award. The award is merit-based. No consideration is given to race, creed, color, religion, national origin, socio-economic status of parents, activity or success of other family members in Scouting, or other scholarships or financial aid. This is not a community service award.
The intent of this award is to recognize and reward Eagle Scouts for their hard work, thrift, and continued success as they enter adult life. Preference is given to those who will be tomorrow’s leaders in Business, Science, Finance, Engineering and the professions of Medicine & Law, and who have served in the Armed Forces.
Eligibility
- Received Eagle Scout Rank from Great Rivers Council.
- Born after a certain date (see application for details)
- Must have completed 60 hours of college.
- No convictions aside from minor traffic offense. NO EXCEPTIONS. Finalists must agree to a background check.
There will be 3 Awards of $10,000 each. The award can be received only once. There is no limitation on the number of times you can apply. Applications are available here, please do not mail prior to June 1st.

Graduated the University of Minnesota summa cum laude and has completed his Master’s Degree and is pursuing a PhD in Computer Science – Quantum Computing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Frank Foss
Graduated the University of Missouri – Columbia and is a Captain in the United States Army. He received the Bronze Star and currently is at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School.
Lucas Tucker
Graduated summa cum laude from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and has completed his Master’s Degree and is pursuing a PhD at Rolla in Nuclear Engineering.

Evan R. Cameron
Received his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Missouri, where he was valedictorian and elected to the AOA Honorary Medical Fraternity. He is currently a captain in the U.S. Army.
Todd R. Gingrich
Graduated from California Institute of Technology with honors and received his Masters from University of Oxford while on a Rhodes scholarship. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of California-Berkeley.
Andrew R. Reiff
Earned his Eagle Scout Rank at age 13 and completed 73 merit badges. He received his degree from State Fair Community College and is the owner of Reiff Duct Cleaning and Sanitizing.
Dr. Robert M. Doroghazi Bio
Weather participating in the community band, being active with civic organizations, or being a distinguished cardiologist, Dr. Doroghazi has always been active with the Scouting movement.
Dr. Doroghazi earned his Eagle Scout Award as a member of Boy Scout Troop 96 in Granite City, Illinois, on May 20, 1964, earning 36 merit badges in the process. He is the son of Irene Doroghazi, who resides in Granite City, and the late John Doroghazi. He received the Silver Beaver Award in 1998. He is past president of the Great Rivers Council and has served on the board since 1986. In 2010 he received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
He graduated from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine with distinction in 1977 and he is currently the past-president of the national Alumni Association of the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and Division of Biological Science.
Dr. Doroghazi has distinguished himself in his career as a leading cardiologist, founding the Missouri Cardiovascular Specialists in 1985. Additionally, Dr. Doroghazi is a published author of the book, The Physician’s Guide to Investing: A Practical Approach to Building Wealth, which is now in its second edition, and recommended by Warren Buffet as required reading at medical schools.
