Announcement of the 2016 Doroghazi Eagle Scout Award

The Doroghazi Eagle Scout Award is $10,000 given to young men who received their Eagle Scout in the Great Rivers Council. This year’s Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Saturday, August 13 at the University Club in Columbia.
 

This year’s recipients are:
 

1) Samuel Wallace Bergin graduated from Rock Bridge High School in Columbia where he was an AP Scholar. He received a BS from Brigham Young University and an MD from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is a Captain in the US Air Force performing a Residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas.
 

2) Cole Davis Pruitt graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia where he was an AP Scholar. He received a BS with Honors from Brown University, where he co-founded the American Collegiate Go Association. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Physics and Chemistry at Washington University, St. Louis.
 

3) Kevyn H. Wiskirchen was Salutatorian and President of the National Honor Society at Kirksville High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Truman State University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is pursuing a Master of Science in Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University.
 

The purpose of this Award is to recognize Eagle Scouts who have succeeded in their chosen field. Although preference is given to those pursuing a career in Medicine, Business, Law, Science, Engineering, and those who serve in the Armed Forces, it is not a STEM award. Applications are encouraged from those in the Visual and Performing Arts, the Media, Education, Journalism, Accounting and Sports.
