Membership Specialist/Scout Shop Retail Associate
The Boy Scouts of America, Great Rivers Council is looking for an innovative person with exceptional customer service skills to both process membership for our Council as well as run our Scout Shop retail store. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, be able to communicate effectively, have working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, and be proficient in computer knowledge, along with being well organized. This person must be able to work well in a team setting with the ability to multitask at times. Minimum requirements for this position include HS diploma/GED. Must possess some experience working in an office setting.

The Membership Specialist/Retail Associate selected will:
- Prepare correspondence email for annual re-charter 120 days in advance for the re-charter process. All unit, district, and council level registrations in Great Rivers Council expire December 31st.
- Scan all new applications in a timely manner. All membership cards will be sent directly from National to the unit leader. Unit should allow two weeks from time of registration to receive cards in the mail.
- Assist in the preparation of all school night support materials including printing of fliers.
- File all applications and paperwork in a timely manner after the applications have been posted by the National office.
- Assist in the Criminal Background checks when necessary.
- Maintain unit history and current files in central file area. Properly shred all outdated papers with any personal information on them.
- Upon receipt, save monthly OPR and Monthly Membership Reports for the previous month on the first business day of the month. These documents will be emailed directly from the Field Director.
- Answer registration related questions in a timely manner and assist in gathering information on defective applications so that they may be processed.
- Provide support to the Field Director as needed.
- Process all veteran’s applications.
- Place weekly supply order on Wednesday before 3PM of each week with order approval from Business or Office Manager.
- All orders from vendors will be opened, checked in, and stocked put on shelves for sale within 24 hours of their arrival. Invoices and packing lists will be checked and given to the office manager immediately after orders are checked in.
- Maintain a stock area in the basement and other designated areas of the council service center for overstock items. Items will not be placed in the hallways or in the general work areas.
- All shelves are to be stocked daily and no shelves should remain empty.
- All orders that are faxed, emailed, or arrive by USPS will be packaged, and/or mailed within 24 hours of order arrival.
- All backordered merchandise that is being held for a customer will be held for two weeks after the customer is notified. The date of customer notification will be noted on the order slip. If the customer cannot arrange to pick up the merchandise within two weeks, or it cannot be mailed to the customer within two weeks, other arrangements can be made at the customer’s request.
- Defective/out of date merchandise will be processed and returned monthly.
- Scout Shop Retail Associate will check email regularly throughout their shift and reply to all requests in a timely manner. Likewise, voice mails will be returned in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Business Manager, or the Scout Executive.

Requirements:
