Troop 17 Linn Merit Badge University
Saturday, July 25, 2015
On the Campus of State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, MO

The annual Linn Merit Badge University, held on the State Technical College of Missouri (formerly Linn State Technical College) campus, will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015.

SCHEDULE:  Troop Check-in: 8:00 a.m.; Opening Ceremony: 8:30 a.m.; Classes Begin: 9:00 a.m. Classes End: 3:30 p.m.   

COST:  $15, if registered by deadline of July 5, 2015, and includes lunch, event patch, merit badge blue cards, and materials needed for the classes. Leaders and parents can pre-purchase lunch for $7 at the same time as you register the scouts.

HOW TO REGISTER:  Registration will be completed online beginning on April 1, 2015.  A link to the Website will be emailed to all participants prior to April 1, 2015.  The early registration deadline is July 5, 2015.  After this date, all registrations will be considered late and accessed an additional $4 late fee. NO registrations will be accepted after July 12, 2015, including the day of the event.

CAMPING AVAILABLE:  Linn Lions Club Fairgrounds, located across Highway 50 from State Technical College of Missouri if you want to camp on Friday and/or Saturday night at no charge, with water and restroom facilities available.  Let us know if you plan to camp and which nights so we know who is camping and we can be sure everything is unlocked. Please be considerate of other troops when camping and follow the principles of Leave No Trace.

WHAT TO BRING:  All Scouts are expected to bring merit badge booklet and workbook, pencil, paper, any supplemental resources to aide them in completing the merit badge to class and any completed prerequisite requirements.  Booklets and workbooks will not be provided. Workbooks are available at www.meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/merit_badge_worksheets.

PREREQUISITES:  Scouts who are enrolled in merit badges with prerequisites must complete these requirements prior to arriving the day of the event.  If a Scout has not completed the prerequisites, he will not complete the merit badge and will receive a partial which will require follow up with a counselor after the event. Please see each merit badge class for prerequisites.

DRESS CODEAll Scouts are required to be in their Class A Field uniform and abide by the Scout Oath and Law at all times.

MERIT BADGE BLUE CARDS:  We will provide blue cards for the scouts. If you want to bring your blue cards (some troops will use white cards) already filled out you may do so and then you can use the blue cards we provide troops that day at another time.

MERIT BADGE CLASSESWe are excited to work with many different departments within State Technical College of Missouri and a number of community partners to bring you the following merit badge classes this year.  Classes will be limited in size and filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Eagle required classes are shown in bold letters.

*These merit badges are ½ day courses. If a ½ day a.m. class is chosen, you must choose a ½ day p.m. class to have a full day.
**Scheduled to be taken as one collective group, meaning that each merit badge will be tied together and all three earned during the day.

Cancellation Policy: Merit Badge University Refund Policy Refund requests must be submitted in writing to bryon.haverstick@scouting.org prior to July 25, 2015. If the refund is granted, a 20% readiness fee will be withheld. After July 25, 2015 no refunds will be given, no exceptions. A unit leader, parent, or Scout may only request a refund of the fees under the following conditions: 1. Illness or serious accident of the Scout prevents his attendance at the Merit Badge University 2. A family illness or an emergency prevents the Scouts attendance at the Merit Badge University.
