Why the Winter Solstice?

The Winter Solstice is a phenomenon that happens once a year in the Northern Hemisphere; where the Earth's poles tilt maximally away from the Sun.  Hence, we get the shortest day and longest night.  Historically, this event has been celebrated with great feasts, festivals, & fellowship across the world.  To read more about the cultural, historical, and scientific significance of the Winter Solstice, click here.  The next time the December Winter Solstice falls on a weekend will be in 5 years!  So, this is truly a once-in-a Scouting Lifetime event.  Register today!
