Serving youth in Boone, Cooper & Howard Counties, Missouri2000 QUALITY DISTRICT
Welcome to the home page for the Boonslick District of the Great Rivers Council,
Boy Scouts of America. The home page provides information about upcoming meetings
and events, recognition of Scouts and Scouters, and a recap of current positions and
committees. The district committee meeting is held the third Wednesday of each
month at Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Company, 1000 West Nifong Blvd.
Building 7, Columbia, Missouri. It is open to any interested Scouter. For those of
you who are not currently participating at the district level, I hope you will review
the committees, find an area of interest, and receive the benefits of becoming
involved with the Boonslick District. The success of the programs provided
to the youth within the Boonslick District is dependent upon the many volunteers
who unselfishly devote their time and effort at the unit and district level.

Commissioners
Unit Commissioners are volunteer experienced Scouters that help their fellow
Scouters by providing a channel of communications between the Council/District
and the Packs, Troops and Posts they serve. They assist the leaders in
their units by
-
helping units operate efficiently so they can deliver the best possible
program to the youth in the unit
-
helping units improve their program by finding resources within the
unit, within the district and within the council to help the unit
-
helping units if a problem arises by mobilizing resources to help solve
the problem
-
helping units recharter and achieve the Quality Unit Award each year
They do this by being a
-
Friend--they are an advocate of unit needs
-
Representative--they represent the district to the unit and inform
the unit of district activities and events so that the unit may chose to
participate
-
Doctor--they check on the health of the unit and help the unit leaders
remedy any problems that the unit leadership want to correct
-
Teacher--they teach unit leaders either through their own knowledge
or by mobilizing resources
-
Counselor--they help unit leaders solve their own problems
We Need Additional Unit Commissioners
If you, or someone you know, are interested in helping unit leaders and
the District as a Unit Commissioner--Let Us Know!

Roundtable
What is a Roundtable?
Roundtables provide unit leaders with the skill to do: skills, techniques,
information, program ideas, and the know-how that makes a unit operation
successful. Roundtables provide unit leaders with the will to do: the morale,
enthusiasm, inspiration, and vision that periodically renew the desire
to carry on.
Boonslick District Roundtables are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month
at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 914 West Blvd.
S, Columbia.
If you've attended Roundtable before, you know that they provide the leaders with information about upcoming District and Council events,
sharing opportunites with other leaders, fun and fellowship. Roundtables are also the place you can get "bonus bucks", a traveling
trophy, door prizes, Cub Scout monthly theme handouts and the Boonslick District patch. If you haven't attended before,
come and find out what it's all about.
