2006 Boy Scout Summer Camp

The Great Rivers Council is proud to offer two exciting properties filled with program opportunities and advancement opportunities for your Scouts.

We begin the summer with three sessions at the Hohn Scout Reservation near Laurie, MO.  Hohn spreads across over 400 acres, including a mile of shoreline on the Lake of the Ozarks.  This allows the camp to offer an expanded selection of waterfront merit badges and activities including Small-boat Sailing, Motorboating, and Waterskiing in addition to the aquatics merit badges that other camps offer.  Hohn also has a climbing tower, natural rock face climbing, and a COPE course with low and high events.  The camp has ten campsites, each with at least one pole shelter, water source, and latrine.  There are concrete floors for the tents.  The camp also has two large showerhouses.  Patrols cook in their campsites at Hohn.

We also offer a session in July at Camp Thunderbird, north of Moberly, MO.  Thunderbird is rich in Scouting history, and boasts over 500 acres including the Thunderbird Cave and Lake Thunderbird.  The Thunderbird Cave (Mitchell Petroglyph Site) features a prehistoric work of art carved into the stone by Woodland Indians.  Thunderbird has a large state-of-the-art dining hall used for all meals.  The camp has twelve campsites.  Wooden platforms are provided as floors for the tents.

Session 1 (Hohn) June 18-24                Session 2 (Hohn) June 25-July 1            Session 3 (Hohn) July 2-8                 Session 4 (T-Bird) July 16-22

Each session begins Sunday afternoon and concludes Saturday morning.
