Welcome ...

We at the Great Rivers Council invite you to join us as we strive to better prepare our children, families and communities for the future. The Great Rivers Council provides young people with opportunities to develop  character, physical fitness, and leadership and life skills.

How?  Through our emphasis on adventure, modern day skills, values and service to the many towns and cities in our council.

Through our traditional Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing programs, along with our Learning For Life career programs the Great Rivers Councils serves over 10,000 youth in 33 central Missouri counties with a dedicated volunteer adult leadership corps consisting of over 3,000 registered Scout leaders.

Examples include - in 2003, more than 120 Boy Scouts in our council reached the rank of Eagle Scout - and in so doing, contributed thousands of hours of service projects back to the communities where they live.  In 2004, our Scouting For Food effort raised over 80,000 pounds of food for the Central Missouri Food Bank System to fill its shelves at a time when needs are very high. In total, more than 70,000 hours of community service was performed by our members and participants.

To each adult who makes it possible for a young person to join Scouting, to pursue the Scouting adventure, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation. If you are new to Scouting, we look forward to greeting you personally along the Scouting trail.

Doug Callahan,
Scout Executive
