Tips On Selling
Popcorn
Parents guide
(How to help your son
and
How YOU can
sell popcorn)

Your Son:
Help your son practice selling popcorn. Play "knock-knock, whose there?".

Make sure son knows what products he has to sell and the prices.

Make sure son knows where the money he earns is going. (Council portion and his unit portion).

Volunteer to take son and a Scout friend out to sell popcorn and encourage them to knock on as many doors as they can.

Parents Selling:
If selling at work is not against company policy then,
put an advertisement on bulletin board, near coffee pot, soda machine, smoking area and water fountain.

BEST: Have your son come to work and take orders AND/OR leave order forms.
OK: You deliver an home-made order form to each desk, with your name and sons name and ask them to return it to your desk.

BEST: If at all possible have your son deliver the popcorn (in full uniform).
OK: If this is not feasible then have a "Thank You" note, from him, taped to the popcorn.

Know the products, cost, where the money is going and delivery date. This will also help in training your son for his sales delivery routine (see above).

If applicable, ask your boss (or whoever is in charge) about the company giving popcorn as a Christmas present and/or promotional items to favored customers.
