TRAINER'S EDGE
What is Trainer’s EDGE?
Trainer’s EDGE is required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) staffs. It is open to summer camp staff and registered BSA leaders. This course is designed to help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development. It replaces the Trainer Development Conference.
What is the class format for Trainer’s EDGE?
Participants will be divided into groups of six and work within those small groups throughout the day. A Trainer’s EDGE staff member will serve as a troop guide for each patrol. The Trainer’s EDGE is a full-day course covering topics essential in developing good trainers/presenters. Modules include:
1) Communicating 2) Logistics, Media, and Methods 3) Directing Traffic and Thoughts 4) Participant Platform
The last module requires each participant prepare a 10-12 minutes presentation on a topic related to Wood Badge, National Youth Leadership Training, Boy Scout Summer Camp activity, or Boy Scouts of America. Participants will have up to 30 minutes to adjust their presentation after the learning modules and prior to presenting. ALL visual aids should be prepared prior to the course.
When is Trainer’s EDGE?
Trainer’s EDGE is a full-day course on January 23, 2010, beginning promptly at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.
Where Is Trainer’s EDGE?
The training will be at Grace Bible Church, 601 Blue Ridge, Columbia, MO 65201. Directions .
How Much?
$20 covers the cost of the conference and your lunch. The class is limited to 36 people.
How Do I Register?
Complete the Trainer’s EDGE registration form and mail it with payment to the Great Rivers Council office, 1203 Fay Street, Columbia, MO 65201. Be sure to write “Trainer’s EDGE” in the memo line of your check.
