Special Fund Raising Events

The Council runs three special events to broaden the base of donors to Scouting. These events have their own organizing committee and offer unique features for participants, and account for nearly $50,000 to support Scouting programs in the Great Rivers Council.

Golf Tournament - July 21, 2008

July 21, 2008 The Club at Old Hawthorne, Columbia

This traditional golf tournament attracts corporate level foursomes and individual players who like to socialize and be involved in a high quality golf event. Entry fees include green fees, food and beverages, prizes and trophies. Those who like to golf at a prestigious club and support Scouting will love this event. Sporting Clays - August 23, 2008

August 23, 2008 Midway Farms, near Fayette

Warm up for hunting season at our annual Sporting Clays Tournament, where teams compete for trophies, bragging rights and prizes. We also offer a shotgun shooting merit badge skill center where Scouts can earn the shotgun shooting merit badge. Golf Marathon - Second Annual coming this September!

Ever play 100 holes of golf in a day? Don't say it can't be done. Join the team of players who will do it. But don't delay; we have only 40 slots for this event. Your day begins at sunrise when you leave the clubhouse in your own golf cart and begin your quest for 100 or more holes of golf! We provide food and beverage all day long, offer massages around noon, have lots of fun contests, and promise you'll never forget this day of strain and pain.

How is money raised from a golf marathon? Players secure pledges before the event for each hole of golf they play. It may sound crazy and it is, but it works! Men and women are invited to play. Need more details? Contact Mike Miller, Council Finance Director, at (573) 449-2561, extension 202.
