Welcome to the online edition of Great Rivers Council's
New Leaders Essentials Training!

This is the latest in our ongoing effort to make training more convenient and accessible for our leaders. Before beginning, we urge you to view the instructions and software requirements for the training course.

New Leader Essentials (NLE) is the second step in becoming a fully trained leader. If you haven't already done so, we would encourage you to begin your training by taking advantage of the Fast Start Training for your program that can be found at the Online Learning Center via the BSA national website. You will also find Youth Protection, Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat training at the national site. After you have completed Fast Start and NLE, you will need to take the position specific training for your registered position (i.e. Den Leader, Webelos Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Committee Member.). Certain positions also require Outdoor Leader Skills Training to be considered fully trained. Consult your unit leader or your District Training Chair to make sure. If you have other questions, feel free to contact a member of our training committee. A roster of the District and Council Training Committee Members can be found here.

We hope you find this training to be both convenient and thorough, and encourage you to provide feedback on your experience to Council Training Chair Richard Mendenhall or Council Program Director David Harris.

Thank you again for your support of our youth through Scouting. By giving your time and taking this training, you are doing your part to assure all Scouts get the quality Scouting program they deserve.

Yours in Scouting,

Richard Mendenhall
Council Training Chair

David Harris
Council Program Director

P.S. - If you have come across this page and are from a Council other than Great Rivers, we would encourage you to check with your Council Training Committee to be sure they will accept this training before continuing.
