To Celebrate 100 Anniversary Boy Scouts will put 100 Mile markers on Gasconade River Dear Fellow Scouters, This summer the Great Rivers Council, with your help, will install 100 Mile Markers on the Gasconade River. This will be part of our 100th Anniversary celebration in 2010. This will make the river safer in case of accidents, and make it easier to meet up with other scouts when canoeing. You can help! Buy a Mile Marker Sign - Do you want your troop/pack number immortalized by being on a BSA 2010 Mile Marker Sign? The cost is $100. We are giving first preference to troops/packs/crews before selling to others. Given the community interest in specific numbers we need your response by April 30 to save your number. After that date we will make the mile markers available to the general public. Install Mile Marker Signs - How about a wonderful canoe trip on the Gasconade River with some community service? We will provide the signs, GPS co-ordinates, and info on how install the sign; you provide the manpower. The scouts will learn how to install street signs, and read GPS, and have fun on the river. The signs will be installed in 2009. A special patch will be available, plus the rights to etch your Troop number and names on the back of the signs. Plan 2010 100th Anniversary Activities - Would your troop/pack be willing to plan a fun activity on the Gasconade River in 2010? Ideas include sprint races (200, 500, 1000 meter), fishing for food day, geo-cashing on the river, relay races between access points, and a crazy 100 mile race. Funding will be available for activities that attract the general population. Send this form to Jeanne Sinquefield, 100th Activity Chairman.
