The society's symbol is a fleur-de-lis modified into the shape of a fire, representing light, warmth, protection, `a gathering place'. Members wear the symbol (referred to as our totem) on a lanyard around their neck. Beads on the lanyard recognize service, status, tenure, honors and awards. Greenhorns will wear a totem of four logs lashed in a rectangle to represent the beginning of a log cabin. Each level of membership will have special signs and symbols presented upon induction to that level. The society handshake is to be given between members as a form of recognition.
The Society brand will be an intercrossed SDB with the S being a black snake. The flag of the fort will be made by placing the brand in the center of a blue and white 4 checked background with the society's symbol inversed on the blue fields.
